Hello everyone!
This is the first day of a four day-long weekend, a much needed rest that’ll help my mood get back to top shape, my writing to catch up with my objectives and my body to lose its tension. I should get around to do a few things on my To Do list and I thought the best place to start was the drabble for this week’s Drabble Challenge.
After Lorelei’s crazy life in Killing Time OST, this short story is a real palate cleanser for me.
Abandon
“Maybe you should slow down.” Jill put a hand on Nicole’s shoulder. Heartbreaks never took this big a toll but then, this year had been especially bad for Nicole.
“He wasn’t the one,” Jill continued, at a loss to find words to appease her tipsy-going-on-comatose friend. The couple was barely two months old. And Nicole did the dumping.
“You can learn from this and be stronger next time.”
Nicole looked straight at Jill, her eyes reddened by alcohol and tears. She downed her three-quarter-rum-one-quarter-coke and slammed the glass against the bar.
Jill suddenly understood the situation when Nicole kissed her.
I’ll try to get to my awards acceptance speech later today. 😉

Yup…I’m sure that kiss did explain a whole lot! I hope it’s just not the rum talking 😉

I think the rum’s just the help. 😉

“her tipsy-going-on-comatose”
Great line. Remind me to steal it latter.
😀

Thank you!
I grant you permission to use that line. Just wedge my name somewhere in the Special Thanks. XD

Hiya to a fellow NANOWRIMO’er, I’m debating at the moment whether to upload my NANO to WP, it’s behind a locked account on LiveJournal and I’m supposed to be working on it for Cinqo de Mayo (LJ NANOWRIMO) *sigh* I’m a bit/lot of a fail in that respect.

Hello vicvega66 and welcome to my blog,
I must say that promising readers I’ll post something three times a week played an important role on my now steady writing habits. It’s a great motivation and I recommend it to anyone struggling to complete a story.
On the other hand, if publishing is what you’re after, posting online is considered using your first publication rights. This means that traditional publishers will not want to by that particular manuscript. Certainly not as a first book, anyway. That being said, you can always self-publish, find a smaller publisher or wait until you’re a best-seller to book-ify the story on your blog.
Hope this helps!

I like how smoothly written and constructed this is, Aheila, with just the right amount of tension, and an understanding but surprised friend that makes it fun to read and thought provoking. Nice!

Thank you very much Ryan!

A case of mixed signals ~ but the last line definitely “set the record straight” !

I hope so! If not, I’ll have to slap Jill.
