Aerial – A Drabble

The wind stretched my skin tight across my face as I… as I what? ‘Rushed through the stratosphere?’ Nah… too elegant… ‘teetered at high velocity and altitude’ sounded more like it.
“’Cause she couldn’t give me a stick when she gave me wings, could she?” A bug hit the back of my throat, and I coughed. That’ll teach me to talk to myself at a time like this.
How the hell was I going to land?
“You can talk to me once you get your misdirected anger under control,” she had said before I started flying. Was that a clue?

Drabble Day – Soup

Hello everyone!

New week, new prompt! Sorry about disappearing on you guys, again. I should now be done with moving for at least a year, so it’ll be easier to keep up the routine.

Here is how the #DrabbleDay challenge works:

  • Write a drabble (100 word story, give or take five words) about the prompt.
  • Post a direct link to your drabble in the comments (or, if you don’t have a blog, just go ahead and post your drabble in the comments).
  • Please link back to this post and take the time to read and comment of what others wrote!

Today’s theme is: Soup!

I’ll post my own drabble for this prompt tomorrow along with the one for “Aerial” (which I missed last week).

Have fun and feel free to suggest prompts for next week!

Dragon – A Drabble

Jillian stood in a dark cavern that smelled like an outhouse.
“Mister Smith.” Her wavering voice echoed against the wall of scales in the distance. “I request a loan on behalf of Lirhya.”
The dragon’s head emerged from the shadows above her. She scrambled backwards and tripped.
“Interests are 20%. Arrearage costs a virgin a week.” The dragon grinned, flashing his man-crushing teeth.
“That’s unacc—“
“Without my money, your village will burn. I’m giving those virgins a fighting chance. Literally.”
Jillian bit her lower lip and pulled herself straight. “We’ll take it.”
And buy weapons.
And win the war.

This story was written based on this prompt. I’m not quite sure why my dragon turned into a loan shark, but here it is. XD

Efficiency – A Drabble

00:25
“Oh God! We’ll never make it.” Eric reached in his bag for the pliers. His hands shook so much the tool caught in the fabric, slipped from his grasp and clattered on the concrete floor. “We’re dead.”
“Eric,” Brandon said.
Ignoring him, Eric fumbled for the pliers.
“Look at me!” Brandon grabbed Eric’s shoulders. “You need to breathe.”
“There’s no time.” Eric struggled against Brandon’s hold, but Brandon wouldn’t budge.
“Sometimes, the most efficient action is counterintuitive. Breathe.”
Once Eric took a slow breath, Brandon released him. Sure-handed, Eric grabbed the pliers and plucked a wire off the bomb.
