Obsession – A Drabble

Ariel switched the blue and red crayons. The disorder exploded into my mind like a thousand shards of ill-intentioned glass. They stabbed relentlessly at my gray matter until I couldn’t tolerate it anymore.

I picked the blue and red crayons, and laid them back in their rightful place.

“I told you to stop correcting me!” Ariel’s high-pitched voice grated between my ears.

“And I gently asked you to stop destroying my chromatic circle!” My voice had raised just enough to draw the orderly’s attention. I pushed the crayons into the storage bag before the argument got us in trouble. “Chess?”

This is a drabble for this prompt.
