Hello!
I was sitting on a terrace to enjoy the sun while tackling my writerly responsibility. That led me to today’s prompt!
Remember how it works?
- Read the prompt and find your angle.
- Write a drabble (100 words story, give or take five words).
- Post a direct link to your drabble in the comments (or, if you don’t have a blog, just go ahead and post your drabble in the comments).
- In the post on your blog, make sure to link back to this post.
Today’s prompt is: Wind!
I’m afraid I don’t have an extra challenge this week. *shrugs* Hope you don’t mind!
Awesome writerly week to all of you!
Wind
Knowing where the wind is born kills me. A relief from the crushing heat, a carrier of scents, even a threat that brings down houses; all those roles of the wind plays for everyone else bear no weight.
Spirits create the wind.
Breezes are peacefully deceased. The gushes wailing in the night, outcasts and bullied who never found an ear. The children dying of thirst or unclean water sway the rain. And tornadoes, well, we’re all sick of war, aren’t we?
I hear the voices of the wind and there’s only one I don’t regret brushing my skin.
My mom’s.

I really like the way you ended with touching emotion that contrasts with the harsh nature of the other aspects you describe.

I took some time out to write this before the July 4th bbq at my folks’ house. Enjoy! 😉

I really like the ending. And who knows? Maybe the wind is made up of the dead trying to talk to us. If only we could actually hear what they are saying.
