I wanted something fresh for breakfast yesterday and it led me to discover my new favorite summery, savory breakfast. I spread some Caprice des dieux (a French soft cheese with a very light taste of creamy happiness) on a toasted bagel, added some fresh chopped basil, thin slices of cucumber and a dash of salt and pepper. I’ll eat that this morning as well, thinking of the day when the temperature will finally be hot enough for me to have breakfast outside.
Until then, I’m forcing the ‘Breakfast‘ prompt on you for this drabble challenge!
- Read the prompt and find your angle.
- Write a drabble (100 words story, give or take five words).
- Post a direct link to your drabble in the comments (or, if you don’t have a blog, just go ahead and post your drabble in the comments).
- In the post on your blog, make sure to link back to this post
Breakfast
“I like this time of day.” Miranda stepped on a chair. “I stretch my tea almost to coldness just to pretend breakfast lasts longer. It’s like a dam, stilling the river’s flow for some calm. Soon enough, it’ll break.” The identically dressed audience gasped. “The flood of events will rip apart the foundations of Composure, cause all its facades to domino upon each other. Chaos and… death!” Someone started crying.
An orderly shaking a paper cup interrupted Miranda’s speech. She obediently stepped down her chair to swallow its content.
“By the power of lunchtime’s pills, the day has reset itself!”

We’re thinking along the same lines, doing stories about mental patients (?)
Miranda sounds almost exuberant though while Isabella in my drabble was more forlorn. I like yours a lot! 😉

I think, somehow, Isabella mixed with the initial description I had in mind. I didn’t want this to be just a lyrical, descriptive piece so…
