Drabble Day – Fruits

Yes, it is Tuesday again. And at least for this month, Tuesday means Drabble Day!

A quick reminder of how it works!

  • Read the prompt and find your angle
  • Write a drabble (100 words story) OR use my drabble as the opening for a longer story (don’t forget to give me credit!)
  • Post your drabble or the direct link to your drabble in the comments

Now that the rules are taken care of, and in case you haven’t guessed it by the title of this post, today’s drabble prompt is : Fruits!
And here is my drabble!

Fruits
A hand in my paper bag, I pushed aside the sandwich. Mom asked me every morning which sandwich I wanted but the snack was a surprise. I wrapped my hand around a plastic bag. Probably a fruit. It was Wednesday; sugar was only allowed on Friday.
I pulled out a handful of raisins. My favorites.
“Those are mine!” Kurt yelled.
“No, they’re not!”
He grabbed the bag and ran. No fair! Tears filled my eyes. He did that every week.
“Don’t cry, Evelyn.” Charles sat on the grass by my side. “Here! Have some of my cherries.”
Everything got better.
